AVMA Business Meeting
\nDelta Beausejour Hotel, Moncton NB
\nOctober 19th, 2007<\/strong><\/p>\n

18 members present in the room making a quorum as per the AVMA Constitution<\/p>\n

Opening Remarks \u2013 Michael Cunningham AVMA Past-President<\/p>\n

Randy Ralph reported that the 2007 Silent Auction raised over $700 for \u201cLog a Load for Kids\u201d<\/p>\n

Appointment of Secretary for the meeting \u2013 Jim Jotcham accepted and was approved by membership at the meeting.<\/p>\n

Agenda presented with 4 additions.<\/p>\n

Reading of the old Minutes \u2013 Accepted as handed out, with two corrections:
\n1.\tShawn Hingley is the current Secretary
\n2.\tThis year\u2019s meeting was Moncton, not Fredericton.<\/p>\n

Motion that the minutes not be read aloud:
\nforwarded by Renaud Bordage, 2nd Danny Lapoint. Motion passed<\/p>\n

Motion to accept the two corrections to the minutes:
\nforwarded by Andrew Chase, 2nd Michel Tremblay. Motion passed.<\/p>\n

1) Treasurer\u2019s Report \u2013 Mike Boucher
\n– Opening Balance $11,367.56
\n– Revenue $7,400.84.
\n– Expenses $10.050.07
\n– bank balance $8718.33
\n– Total assets incl. GIC and outstanding invoices $17,130.83
\n– A profit is expected from the 2007 meeting.<\/p>\n

Motion to accept the Treasurer\u2019s Report:
\nforwarded by Renaud Bordage, 2nd Rick Doucett. Motion passed.<\/p>\n

2) President\u2019s Report \u2013 Mike Boucher presented for president Howard Wellman.<\/p>\n

2a) Work proceeding on 2010 conference in Halifax, with Rob Young and Mike Cunningham as co-chairs.
\n– An organizing committee of 6 or more volunteers will be required.
\n– The sessions will include major field trips (on Bowater land outside of Halifax).
\n– Call for papers will be in the spring of 2008.
\n– Field sites will be available in 2008 for work \/ setting up plots, etc.
\n– Sites varied – forested, pipelines, powerlines, roadsides, dams, etc.
\n– Next year\u2019s meeting will be at the same location as 2010 to test the premises; possibly the casino hotel.<\/p>\n

Motion to accept the President\u2019s Report:

3) Nomination Committee Report:
\n– After considerable discussion and shuffling of names:<\/p>\n

4) Location of 2008 AGM
\n– Probably the Casino Hotel in Halifax.
\n– Week after Thanksgiving preferred.<\/p>\n

5) Membership certificates \/ cards<\/p>\n

Motion to accept that membership cards and\/or certificates be made available:

6) IPM Council
\n– IPM Council has invited AVMA to participate in membership; no financial involvement.<\/p>\n

Motion to accept the invitation by the IPM Council:
\nforwarded by Mike Cunningham, 2nd Vicki Simms.<\/p>\n

– Shawn Hingley and Mike Cunningham to represent AVMA at the IPM Council.<\/p>\n

7) Atlantic Teachers Tour
\n– Request for financial support from AVMA.
\n– 2008 ATT will be in NS.<\/p>\n

Motion to sponsor a teacher for 2008 Atlantic Teachers Tour:

– Mike Boucher to be coordinator.<\/p>\n

8 ) Silent Auction 2008<\/p>\n

Motion that the proceeds from next year\u2019s Silent Auction be for Envirothon 2011.

9) Past President pin.
\nMotion to produce a pin for Past-Presidents:
