AVMA Business Meeting

\nOctober 20th, 2006<\/strong><\/p>\n

22 members present in the room making a quorum as per the AVMA Constitution<\/p>\n

Opening Remarks \u2013 Michael Cunningham AVMA President<\/p>\n

Appointment of Secretary for the meeting \u2013 Jim Urbanowski accepted and it was approved by membership at the meeting.<\/p>\n

Reading of the old Minutes \u2013 No questions\/comments<\/p>\n

Motion to accept: Forwarded by Jim Jotcham, 2nd Rob Young \u2013 All accepted<\/p>\n

Items<\/p>\n

1) New Business Manager \u2013 Still Looking for Volunteers
\n– Mike Cunningham and Mike Boucher to continue looking
\n– Hourly Paid Position to handle membership list, mail outs, constitution amendments & promo support to Association.
\n– Rob Young to investigate on his front<\/p>\n

2) Treasurer\u2019s Report \u2013 Mike Boucher
\n-Kingston Meeting was profitable and returned approx $3000
\n– $11,305.69 total revenue
\n– $6,620 total debits
\n– Approx $16,000 in the bank
\n@ Still $10,000 outstanding debits
\n@ $8,000 outstanding income
\nStart getting ready for 2010 conference in Halifax<\/p>\n

Motion to Accept the report: Forwarded by Rick Doucett, 2nd Tim O\u2019Brien \u2013 All accepted<\/p>\n

3a) Presidents Report \u2013 Mike Cunningham read his report<\/p>\n

b) Joint Conference \u2013 it\u2019s every 5 years \u2013 AVMA\u2019s turn in 2010 \u2013 Halifax
\n– Expect 150 people at the meeting
\n– Need to start planning: field tour site planning and spraying, initial site chosen; Hotel & logistics need to get started.<\/p>\n

Motion to Accept the report: Andrew Chase, 2nd Kim Miller \u2013 All accepted<\/p>\n

4) Membership Vote on Amendment
\n-AVMA Constitutional Amendment Proposal \u2013 As supported by the AVMA Executive
\n– AVMA not bound to go to a Province if they do not have at least 3 members in good standing
\nQuorum sufficient for the meeting
\nAll voted in favour, none against \u2013 Motion past<\/p>\n

5) Nomination Committee Report:
\nCommittee members \u2013 Shawn Hingley, Chair, Michael Cunningham and Chuck Bowers. Michael read the committee report on behalf of the chair.<\/p>\n

Shawn Hingley indicated that he would like to have someone take his place of Secretary if possible due to work load in his business.<\/p>\n

Mike Boucher indicated he would like to stay on for another term as Treasurer<\/p>\n

\nSecretary \u2013 Erin Bremner-Williamson<\/p>\n

There were no nominations from the floor<\/p>\n

Motion to Accept the slate as read: Rob Brewer, 2nd Rob Young \u2013 Accepted<\/p>\n

6) Location of 2007 AGM
\nFredericton was suggested and approved
\nWeek after Thanksgiving preferred but watch out for CWF meetings<\/p>\n
