Shining Rock is a very good layout that takes great advantage of all of its natural beauty and terrain. Check in and check out was easy and the host was great. Place was clean and spacious! You could attempt to drive the green, but if you hit it you probably won't hold it, and you will fall off another cliff over the green. This doesn't suit my eye off the tees or on approach shots. After that it is mainly a great golf course. Because this course is hilly and rocky, I dont recommend walking it (figuring out your course strategy alone will easily tire you out.) The course is challenging having been built on ledge on the side of a hill. Not for me. Bunkers are fluffy and also well looked after. Highly recommend!! Other than that the place was great. Played with the Safari Club on 10/4. Layoutwise, it was an odd course with more than one par 4 measuring less than 320 yards, even from the blues. It's a joke. Turns out that while changing the tee time earlier in the week, I mistakenly booked it for two days earlier. Rachel is such a warm friendly person makes you feel very welcomed. This course I hadn't heard about until this year, and I live 10 minutes from there!
